Orissa’s leading woman athlete Saraswati Chand is set to avail a three-month-long and free-of-cost advance training stint at Tata Atheletic Academy, Jamshedpur from September 15.
Police Lance Naik Chand, who bagged two gold, three silver and one bronze medals in the 13th World Police and Fire Games at British Columbia, Canada last month, would also get other facilities, including lodging and boarding at Tata Sports Hostel, kit and travel expense during the training period, a Tata Steel release said today.
The training stint is expected to help the 26-year-old athlete from Jajpur district, win medals in mainstream competitions of national and international repute.
‘‘I know the coaches of Tata academy and the stint should help me improved my timings. I also hope to win a medal in the Open National Championship next month,’’ the diminutive runner said.
